Just need to go to a digital speedo... Especially one with memory from say your last hour or so.,

We just may have digital speedo's, with an analog readout. My other bike will record highest speed since the last reset among other things.

Of course we do. Info is collected via an analog transducer, then converted to digital form to be distributed to the canbus, ECU, and other systems that need to see it.

The speedo needle is simply a nod to the steam gages of the past. Our bike is 100 percent digital.

The new Buell has gone to a "glass cockpit" or something rather like it, I understand.

The only thing unrestricted for me at those speeds would be my bowels.

My speedo always seems to be 2 or 3 mph faster than the road side radars, although sometimes I'm not sure if it's reading my speed or the vehicle behind me. I have passed some of those radars with no one following me and it didn't pick me up at all.
Just looked at some Android speedometer apps. I installed one on my phone and will play around with it. Not sure how to measure their accuracy, but we'll see. They have a lot of features, particularly if you pay for the upgrades.
