Revving the engine out does provide ample acceleration, but to my butt dyno, there isn't a lot left beyond 7500 rpm. Torque is the big story. I am amazed how strong it pulls from 2000 rpm. My FJR wasn't awake until around 3000, though that bike accelerated like the hand of God was shoving you forward.

All the dyno charts I've seen for the stock bike show HP peaking at around 7300-7400 rpm.I think Honda got this engine just right. Sure, they could've tuned it to make 100 HP at the peak, but that would have ruined the nearly perfect linear power delivery that starts just above idle and doesn't quit til it peaks. Personally, I prefer power being available anywhere in the band, rather than having to search for it in the upper reaches of the rpm range. If I were a drag racer I'd probably have a different opinion. But then, if that were the case, I probably wouldn't have picked the CB1100.
