I dunno, but I think the inspiration for the fuel tank on the new 2017 EX came from the 1994-1995 CB1000 "Big One" which actually hid the girth of it's 5.5 gallon tank quite well, owing to the sheer size of that bike.
No matter, I just placed an order for the first 2017 at my local dealer which will go in on March 1st for a May delivery.
