Under no circumstances mistake some of the activities photographed on the link below as the foolish, juvenile, boorish and mindless antics of a bunch of (mostly) middle aged men released from domesticity and fuelled by beer, Bundy, Green Ginger Wine, Wild Turkey and, for those still stuck in the middle of the last century, other recreational substances. Rather, they are a moving portrayal of an ancient, sophisticated, deeply meaningful and culturally sensitive rite associated with the Australian mid-winter solstice. The details of this rite remain Secret Men’s Business and can only be disclosed to male and women bikers who ride, pillion or sidecar to the Alpine Rally.
