Does anyone use their footpeg as a step to mount their CB1100 (like using the left stirrup to mount a horse)? I do this once in a while when I have a lot mounted on the back and I'm too tired (lazy?) to kick my leg up to step directly over the seat.

Yep see post #8 at the bottom below the gear pic

I missed that part of the post..and I KNOW I've missed seeing you "karate kick" your way onto your bike. I'll have to watch for that in Berea! Hey! Maybe we can have a contest there.... either see who can "karate kick" the highest or see who can get on their bike and moving the fastest...like a LeMans Start contest! (I'll bring the ice and bandages)

You should be dreading the day when you don't kick high enough, your heel catches on the seat and you fall onto your back. Almost did that once, had to 'crow hop' on my left foot to get my right leg all the way across. No one saw me do this, so ssshhhhhh.

I hate it when I forget about the gear piled high on the back seat and attempt to throw a leg over. Last summer I managed to do this at a gas station and my foot stuck on the top of the pile. I ended up doing a bunch of ungraceful, one legged hops backward to free my foot (much to the amusement of some nearby teenaged girls). Blush

Besides the Cortech saddle bags I also have 2 sets of the Aerostich tank panniers , well made and easy to attach to the bike over the seat and just hook the cords onto where you find it the easiest.

Those Legend panniers are nice, but they apparently only hold half as much (9.8 liters) per bag as the Dryspec (20 liters).

Just occurred to me that I still have a very nice waterproof duffel from Aerostitch that I used exactly once, in 2001, on my R1100RT for a trip to Arizona. I recall it being nice back support . . . I think that between soft saddlebags (Tourmaster, Cortech, or the Dryspec) and the duffel, I would be covered. I'll measure the bike to see if the Dryspec will fit. They are supposed to be 17 inches long x 6 inches wide x 12 inches tall.

Thanks for all the insight!

Whenever I have a duffel on the rear seat I do this. I’m too short to get on the bike any other way. Smile
