It's a 1200. When BMW was about to introduce the water cooled engine, rumors were swirling that they'd bump the displacement to a 1250.

I have had quite a few bikes twice or three times. I had three KLR6XX's, three FZR400s, two 1983 VF750F's, two 1986 VFR750F's. Usually not concurrently, but sometimes.

BMW has said that 1200 is the limit for their flat twin engine. If they make the displacement larger, the heads get bigger and then that effects ground and cornering clearance.

The VFR is the bike I've had twice, well, actually, three times.
Bought a 1992 VFR750 and told myself I would NEVER sell her.Blush
That was until I rode a 2001 VFR that my friend was selling... and I HAD TO HAVE IT.Tongue
In a moment of stupidity, I sold my 2001 VFR...Huh
So, I replace the 2001 with a 2000 VFR... and lived happily ever after. Wink
