Don't laugh. One of The best motorcycle movies out there
is the true story of Burt Munro :
- The World's Fastest Indian - {2005}
And how the New Zealander was so obsessed with modifying
a 1920 Indian motorcycle engine in his small garage where he
lived. The Bachelor even making coffee from water he got
from an outside steel garbage can he used to cool off his
latest fabricated engine part with his own smelting of metal.
Munro became famous for setting the under 1,000 cc
World record at Bonneville in 1967.The record still stands.
Muro was 68 when he took the 47 yr.old Indian and set the
record.Of course he had to get to the salt flats. That was trip
in itself.
I wonder what Mods Munro would think of for this now
more than 30 year old engine. CB 1100 first launched in 1980.
Anthony Hopkins starred as Burt Munro in the movie.
I think Hopkins would do like the movie and ride the heck out of it.
Maybe to the point of breaking it to see what the limits are.But maybe
just running it in all conditions to see if it has flaws.I've already detected
a flaw common to Honda. They run hot.Not to mean they don't run good.
You just have to use extra caution in really hot weather.Or parade biking.
That's the worst.
Of course it takes years to know how to tinker with an engine.Do not
try that at home. But still,a Honda has build quality on it's side.
The Honda Goldwing engine is practically bullet proof.
I have no idea'r about this 1100 engine other than it looks sweet and
has a great powerband with awesome Linear power. The engine revs
with nary a dip.
