Got the Honda touch up paint kit for my '13 CB. Why is it so much darker than the paint on the tank? Anyone else experienced that? Is it the nature of red being the hardest color to fix?

Translucent candy paints like ours are tough to match-it is always darker because it isn't being applied to the gold or silver base coat it was meant to.
I've given up trying to match auto or motorcycle touch up paints. They're too expensive, and you can't buy little jars of enamel paints at the hobby shop anymore. I'm almost embarassed to say, but I've found that I can get much better matches for much cheaper by buying cheap fingernail polish at the 99 cent store. The color variety is waaay better than the auto parts store. I've even been able to mix colors for a better match.

I used a honda silver touch up on the ding first before applying the red.....it was pretty close.

Usually the candy colors require two parts. The silver base and the colored topcoat. I just checked the Colorrite site and they show both a base and topcoat required for touch up on the '13 CB11.

I tried the Colorrite set on my Chic Sport seat and the match sucked.

Did you apply the 3rd layer - the clear top coat?
