Luckily I've never had a flat during my motorcycle career since I'm riding.
But then, Germany is just 357,168 km², which is approx. twice the size of Florida. The population is 80 millions. So, at a break down, help is usually in walking distance.

I once had two flats on a honda 305 on a trip through the Sierras in the late 60's. The 2nd was self inflicted using screwdrivers in lieu of spoons. Fixed both with a tube of Shoe Goo. I now carry it, along with duct tape and baling wire, ever since. On long trips anyway, of which I make very few!

A month ago, I had to service a flat b/c of this thing being in the path of exiting out of an underground parking lot. I could have avoided it if I could see it, but as you all know, underground parking garages are typically lit up about as bright as a candle.
You just never know....when your number is up, it's up.
