I feel de 2014 DLX seat is quite hard and not really ergonomic in comparison with my old Kawasaki Zephyr 750. In the Zephyr I felt my butt perfectly adapted from the first time, very comfortable and softer than the CB, until I made a trip from Finland to Serbia. On the second day (after little more than 1000 Km) I started developing a "sore butt syndrome" where the butt ends and the legs begin which I had to treat with aloe vera and body milks, a very feminine thing for a rider I have to say but no way, it felt like bleeding. The longest distance I have made with the CB (it has 1200 Km now) is 400 Km in a row, it doesn't feel comfortable from minute 1 like the Zephyr, a little bit hard but it looks (or I hope) in longer distances it doesn't create further problems. I mean, sitting on a rock it's not very comfortable but won't get your butt sore, sitting on a sponge can be the worst torture not in one hour but after a couple of days.

I think your butt was just more tolerant then. I had a 305 Scrambler and a CB 450 and their seats weren't any better than todays seats. Go to a bike show and sit on one now. Like sitting on small skinny boards.

I still have a 74 cb550 and I find the seat to be about as uncomfortable after about an hour as the '13 cb1100.

I have an air hawk - small. I do like it but I don't strap it down and keep it in my tank bag, so if I stand up it will blow away.
I found standing up while riding provides the best relief...of course this is not practical except at lower speeds, light traffic...but it does refresh.
Does anyone else ride standing up?
