13 STD and 14 DLX red sidecovers

It never ends...

A forum member has recently purchased a 14 DLX he is waiting to take delivery on. He mentioned something in a thread about replacing them. I'm the huckleberry. He claims the red on the 13 STD (jeez it's beautiful) and 14 DLX are similar but not a perfect match. Anyone have any confirmation on this and more importantly pics? Really like the look of the matching side covers.

BHeezy, in 2014 several members switched side covers from a 14 to a 13. There are several threads on it if you search " 2014 side covers". They are different colors although the color difference is minute one is Candy Glory Red and one Candy Azares Red or something like that.

You'd most like have to hold one against the other to see the difference, but I think the 14 is a deeper red than the 13

Back in '14 I really wanted to switch my '13's side covers to red and was considering the '14 DLX covers because I liked their more classic shape. I got scared off when I found out that the '14 DLX was a different shade of red and ordered some custom painted standard covers from Samurider (in Candy Glory Red).

I like my red side covers just fine, but when I saw some '13 owners using the '14 DLX covers, I realized how little the color difference was. I probably could have saved some bucks by using the '14 covers and been just as happy.

Anyway, you asked for pics, so I managed to find a post of a '13 with '14 DLX covers that hadn't been annihilated by Botophucket.

BTW, the color name for the '14 DLX is Candy Alazarin Red.

Thanks Flynn, saw that one last night. I DON"T THINK it will bother but then again I can be a stickler. Anywho if the price is right I'm on it. And THAT will be my LAST mod...


EDIT: Side covers will be purchased when forum member takes possession of bike. Giddyup.

I put 14's on my 13 - you can tell the difference if someone tells you to look for it otherwise it really is a non-issue. Many times any perceived difference your brain/eye will write it off as shadow or something.
