What's the technique for removing a Pinlock insert without ruining it?

I put a pinlock on my Aria last year in the fall and just leave it on, when it rains you can keep the visor closed and it will NOT fog up. It is one of the best things I EVER did . To take it of I can loosen the little screws and carefully remove it but only when it is no longer good and than I will just put a new one without worrying about the old one . Do you want to put yours on a different visor ?

1. Remove the shield from the helmet.
2. Straighten the shield to take some of the bend out of the pinlock.
3. Gently (using a fingernail) lift the edge of the pinlock along the centre of one of the long edges.
4. Pull the pinlock away, by making it curve in the opposite direction to the shield whilst also trying to avoid touching the inner surface of the pinlock.

That’s what I have done, when transferring a pinlock between two shields.

I agree with Richard’s suggestion LR. I took my pinlock off of my Shoei GT Air to clean the the shields and probably shouldn’t have. I think the pinlock shield scratches easier than the face shield. I was lucky my pinlock was not scratched badly enough to bother me

Thanks guys. I’ve had this helmet for 3-4 years and have never removed the insert (it came preinstalled). It’s long overdue to be cleaned. I’ll follow Richard’s guidance.

A little late, but in case you still need it

https://www.fortamoto.com/motorcycle-hel...-explained

includes a short video called "install", but shows "uninstall" too.
