Pdedse, that i71 is really sharp! Good choice!

Thanks Nacho, Gold...I'm happy enough with the look and fit. It'll be interesting to test it out for wind noise at different speeds...and it's $242 cheaper than the Shoei, plus I was going to pay another $35-70 for a tinted face shield for the Shoei, money I won't have to spend with the HJC having its internal sun visor. I think I'll like that. With my shaded face shield on the Shoei every now and then I'd ride home in the dark and it would get a little difficult to see on the less lit roads.

"Transitions" face shields are a great and optically clear alternative for day and night riding with no mechanical adjustment required.
It is great to see new available lids on the Forum. It provides a "heads-up" view of what is currently available before others consider refreshing their bucket.

Nice one, pdedse. I have really liked the internal sun visors in the last 3 helmets I’ve owned.

Your helmet is beautiful!
I also have a HJC, but a different model. What I like most about it is the good ventilation and the adjustable internal sun visor.

Earlier generation HJC internal visors used to scratch too easily. I hope they are better today.
Transitions visors don't appear to scratch at all under normal use conditions.

I have accumulated half a dozen helmets over the years, half-helmets to modular, all of them silver HJC.

I've ridden with the HJC i71 three times now, today the best ride of around 2 hours. I almost always wear the foam ear plugs, but the first ride tried without...not too bad, an expected amount of wind noise, but nothing that gets worse when turning head from side to side. With ear plugs, seems more quiet than my Shoei. Really no complaints at all. Very nice fit, rode at 75mph and just as quiet as at 40. Fip down visor is easy to operate with gloves on...
...and even got a compliment on the helmet. I rode to work yesterday and I was walking towards one of the buildings with all the mc gear still on, helmet included. Somebody from behind me said something, but since I had the helmet on with ear plugs inserted, it didn't register what was said. About 3 seconds later it hit me "nice colorful helmet!" and when I didn't immediately react, he added "ah, he can't hear me". I had my mind on other things and it just took a while to realize that the person was talking about my helmet. |
