If you do have to park in a car spot, park at the very back where they can see you before pulling in.

Had the same thing happen to me with the bee, stuck me right between the eyes. Face is a terrible place to have a sting.

Better a song bird, than a turkey, vulture or deer lol

At the grocery store, I park right up on the big, wide sidewalk outside the building...preferably near the bicycle rack. I have never been told by an employee not to park there, and I see them around outside all the time.

We used to be able to do that in the 60s when there were vey few motorcycles and the City of Ottawa was treated like a town. I have not seen a motorcycle or scooter parked that way now.

I find a quiet spot well away from the store. Because people are lazy and impatient they won't park in those areas. I do the same with my Impala because it fills a parking spot now that lines are painted for pedal cars.

I do not mind walking a distance for a good spot.

What year Impala?

Aussieflyer can tell you all about it, but Melbourne, Victoria actually allows motorcycle parking on the pavement.

It's a 2015 Impala LTZ. I bought it when the lease on my Cadillac SRX SUV expired. Unfortunately it would not fit in the Cadillac's spot in the garage. Had to re-arrange the garage in order to be able to use the door in and out of the house.

It like cars use to be: big, comfortable, quiet and smooth riding. But it will scoot when you stomp on the pedal to pass.

In Victoria motorcycles are allowed to park on the foot paths. This rule is great for us riders, makes going into the city a breeze when you can just jump the kerb and leave the bike in front of where you want to go.

There are a few conditions which include:
- leaving at least one bike length free space between them and the building or fence for pedestrians.
- not near fire hydrants or emergency access points.
- not obstructing doorways and loading bays.
- ... and a bunch of other little conditions!!!

I have heard of people copping an infringement notice (fine) when they've blocked doorways. Deservedly so I say, we should not hinder anyone's easy access to shops or facilities. Also we're not supposed to ride up and along the footpath in order to park it, we should walk the bike.

Now if only Victoria's weather was as conducive to motorcycling as our parking rules are.
