The weather has been great. A bit hot in the afternoon, which has taught me a few lessons. One being drink more water than you think you need to. I thought I was drinking enough on day one but turned out I wasn’t and ended up with a splitting headache. Day two I improved on that. Also been soaking my neck gaiter and head in cold water, works marvelously. Also thank god for mesh jackets!!

Did you camp near the Gravity BrewWorks? (Would make sense to me.)

Hi Django, are you so excited? Your trip is getting close! You’re going to have an amazing time.

Low Gap is great, as is Blue Mountain Cafe in Jasper. If you go a bit further south on your ride, closer to the TAT, Catalpa Cafe is a must. Do you plan on riding through Arkansas?

I did camp near Gravity, about 20 minutes away at Gunner Pool Rec Area. It is a beautiful, isolated, quite spot in the middle of National Forest next to Sylamore Creek. The above pictures of the tent, bluff, rock dam, and creek are all taken from the campsite. Highly recommend. 3 mile gravel road in, but it was a piece of cake in 1st and 2nd gear. The gravel was very smooth and well groomed. Only downside was the drinking water had a boil order on it, so I just filled my bottles up at Gravity. Their water is excellent there obviously!!

It’s been very eager! Ive been so proud of it on this trip. This really is an amazingly capable “naked sport tourer”. I’ve been railing corners all weekend as if it were completely unloaded.

Yes. On my way from Colorado to the South of the Appalachians I plan to ride some roads in the Ozark National Forest.

What is the TAT?

What is the TAT?
The Trans America Trail. It’s definitely off-road oriented.

The Ozarks are a must, great choice. I would LOVE to do some riding with you if my schedule allows for it. Do you have any dates hashed out?

I must say, that's a great idea, indeed! Beer

My way from Montrose to Ozark National Forest is a bit uncertain. But I guess I'll arrive in the evening of Monday, June 24 either in Eureka Springs, Ozark or Clarksville. Not really decided yet.

That could also depend on how you would chime in.

Then, this is my rough plan of a round trip in Ozark National Forest:

I could think about 2 or 3 days having fun in that area.

After the Ozark National Forest, I consider either heading out directly east to the Great Smoky Mountains or go south east along Birmingham, Barber's and then up to Chattahoochee National Forest. Going along the Natchez Trace Parkway is also in consideration.

Day 3 - 340 mi - 960 mi weekend total
Made it home in one piece. Wow. I’ll do my best here:
I learned so much. What an incredible trip/weekend/bike/weather/region/experience. The most incredible thing by a long shot though were the people. I’m not sure why, but when most folks saw that I was traveling on a bike they were so generous and eager to say a kind word to me. My faith in humanity has been restored, for a bit at least. My heart and soul are full up. First photo says it all.

Great shots Daniel, especially the one with the ol' truck. That could be a candidate for the Monthly Photo Challenge. Was there a corpse in there? Smile

Nice, Daniel. Thanks for sharing. People you meet on motorcycle trips are great, aren’t they?
