Versys 650 break in ride
#1

View from overlook last week on Hwy 25 just outside of Leeds AL, home of Barber Motorsports.
On the way back thru Leeds I found a motorcycle repair shop with this poster, just missed the event date
I tried out a Royal Enfield 650 3 weeks ago and didn't think it was a good deal. For just a little more money I got a new old stock 2017 Versys 650.
Not as much low end power as the CB1100 but suspension is much better.

Nice. Are you riding that to the rally David? or is that ALVS650?

I haven't decided yet, the Versys is in the shop getting a new seat, if it will allow me to ride for more than two hours at a stretch I 'll leave for WVA on it Sat, otherwise it will be the NT 700 or the CB 1100.

Actually I did sell the CB, but to a good friend and he gave me lifetime rights to ride it as he has several bikes.
I also sold him my BMW K1100 last year.

He sold one of his bikes last year that is funding his collection, it was a 1975 Gold Wing that was left to him by the dealer (in his will) that he used to work for as a teenager, when he couldn't afford to buy one.

Additionally he never took it out of the shipping crate, and sold it still in the crate to a collector in Japan last year just after the rally in KY.

I almost committed to an '18 Versys 650 LT for the daily mule. I am in agreement with your assessment Mscb. The height and riding positioning felt just right for me.
The looks seemed decent and "adventure-like", but the engine had to be wrung more than I cared for.

Gold, did you buy anything else or are you still looking?

I unexpectedly acquired an '18 NC750XD for daily duties. For me, it complements the CB in every way. The two together covers much ground for choice, except aggressive off-road.
