Need Input

I need to install a power outlet so I can power my phone as a GPS unit.
I also have a set of driving lights I will probably install at some point. Not sure if I need a direct wire or use a relay. Also considering a baterry tender in the future. I have never installed any accessories in the past. My goal is to install a set up so Ii can add accessories in the future and not have to redo the entire ste up. I have looked at powerlet accessories ($$$$Wink, I have investigated adding a small fuseblock with a relay.

looking for some pros and cons of the systems anyone has used in the past that would be easily expandable as needs arise.

When adding accessories it's always advisable to add a relay. It just takes the additional load off of the existing wiring and the accessories will function that much better.
As far as the fuse block goes, that will all depend on what you are installing and where. There is not a lot of room for stuff so choose wisely grasshopper.

Paul added an outlet for tender and heated gear. Being coax, it is extremely small. I borrowed shamelessly from him to do the same and he provided me with pics, part numbers, instruction and sage advice Big Grin , so even I wasn't able to mess it up. My implementation is actually a tad smaller than his. I know there is an accessory to go SAE to USB, which is what you would need to power your phone, so you would just go coax to SAE to USB. They may make an accessory that goes directly from coax to USB..

I like the look of the coax - nice small port very clean look. i will investigate accessories for the transition.

I am leaning toward a small fuse block (6 fuses) connecting 4 to a relay and 2 direct to the battery. that way I can easily add accessories as needed down the road.

in researching the coax port I also found a USB port at 3BR. This would satisfy my initial need - now i need to decide if i want to have a dedicted USB port or a more versitile Coax port or maybe both. What ever way i go i will try to create a clean look similar to the one Paul made.
