Montgomery Wards Silver Pigeon

I have come to realize the greatness of many products sold by Montgomery Ward. Here's a photo of their [url=http://www.scooterlounge.com/mt/mt-search.cgi?IncludeBlogs=1&search=silver%20pigeon]Silver Pigeon scooter manufactured by Mitsubishi. Not sure which model [url=http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=8340&pid=129910#pid129910]Gossman had, but this one sure has a classic look.

I'm often surprised at some of the rebranded products sold by companies like Montgomery Ward and Sears. Sears sold rebranded mopeds, scooters and even full fledged motorcycles, not to mention tractors and even cars.

A couple of years ago I ran into a guy driving a Sears Allstate coupe from the early 50s. He said it was a rebranded Kaiser-Frazer (which later became part of American Motors).

My very first scoot was a very used Silver Pigeon . I think I was 13 or 14. A local golf course put a big tray on
the back of them and used them as grounds care vehicle, when they got tired they took the tray off and sold them cheap. I was only allowed to ride it in the lot across the street from the house. One day I gave a big kid a
ride on the back and bent the rod. I tried to fix it but never got it running right. I know nothing about points or timing or such. Next came My 64 CA200 when I was 15 and 100 or so bike followed since.

My dad used to make lemonwood longbows and arrows for Sears, and later my brother bought a couple of Sears Allstate Mopeds

I had a 250cc Benelli from Sears or Wards as my first bike. It was great, no battery, simple, kick start. Always started and ran. Dead simple to take care of and of no interest to be stolen. Boy I wish I still had it. Moved up to a 1976 360 Honda. That was a great bike also. It was my fun diversion in graduate school.
