2017 EX Front End Vibration
#21
Hey Nortoon, where & when did you get that photo?

My reason for asking is because I believe that Powersports Ottawa brought in 2 of the blue 2014's. One was a demo. I bought one in a crate.

It would be pretty cool if that's actually my bike in the pic. I never did get a picture of it in the crate.

The dealer is dealing with it. Wink

They've just told me that they have found the front tyre to be slightly deformed. They are getting me a new front tyre, they say.

I'll post updates...

The only information I have on the picture is that I stole it on 30 January 2015. So it may be here in the photos section. Or I wandering through Google Images and tripped over it.

I know Powersports Ottawa does take pictures. Jim sent mine to me a day or two before I could pick it up. It had already been removed from the crate and was on a lift being prepped.

I used information found here to show them the new EX model and put a payment down on January 23rd. It was a long wait until May 18th when I finally got to ride it home.

I have got my CB back today.

The dealer told me they detected the front tyre to be out of round, so they replaced it. They tested the bike again, and it still vibrated, but much less. So they have checked the rear, and... also out of round.

So two new tyres, and vibration is gone. Biker Thumbs Up

What are the chances of having BOTH tyres with a manufacturing defect? I'd say prety low.

PS: Whenever I will have to repleace them: what are the chances of me getting another set of Bridgestones? I'd say close to none.

I had OEM Bridgestone's on my 2013 and 2014 CB 1100 and did not like them at all. I had no feeling in them.
My 2017 came with Dunlop's and I like them MUCH better.

Unfortunately there are no replacement Dunlop tires in North America for the 2017 CB1100 EX. However thanks to the Bonneville riders, there are Avon Roadriders that fit.

Hopefully by the time my 2017 tires need to be replaced Dunlop will have them available.
If not I probably buy the Dunlop Road Smart 3 from the UK.

So 500km later, vibration is back (first I thought it was my imagination, then it was very subtle, but now it's quite evident).

This can't be a manufacturing defect, again, on my set of tyres. Or it is a whole lot of tyres with a manufacturing defect, or these tyres are not appropiate for the weight of this bike. Sad

I am taking it to the dealer today (1000km -> first service), and let's see what they do about the tyres issue.

I must ask: anyone here has experienced this problem with the '17-RS running bridgestones?
