Yep too many jerks driving and using the phone. I as coming home Friday from volunteer work and a man was weaving all over the place and driving well below the limits in the far left lane of a 6 lane expressway. I went right and passed him for my safety.

Ummm this crash has nothing to do with the (incorrect) assertion that group riding is dangerous. Unless I missed something, the driver crossed the line into the bikes. If it had been one bike, only one bike would have been damaged. There is ZERO evidence presented in the article to support the argument that the riders could have avoided the crash had they not been in a group. This crash is about driver error period. I'm not even sure why this post was made; we all know, or should know, that there is an inherent risk in riding. I already know with whom I share the road, thank you, and I always try to be sure that I have room to maneuver my bike whether in a group or not. However, I assure you that neither I nor the most skilled and experienced rider reading this will be able to avoid some idiot that suddenly veers fully, suddenly, and with out any type of warning. into our lane.
