Were you guys surprised by how far off the pace Lorenzo was? Rossi and Marquez were on a different level yesterday.
And the amount of distance and how little time it took Marquez to make up in that last lap was amazing. The announcers were getting ready to congratulate Rossi at the beginning of the last lap and all of a sudden Marquez had made up so much distance so quickly. Very good race!

Here is what Lorenzo had to say about it over on MotoGP.com
Lorenzo: “We are still ten points behind the leader, which is good. It was 29 points after Argentina so now ten points after a difficult weekend that we had before a race is not so bad. I make a good start, I was really focused in the first lap to recover positions and did it faster than I expected, because I was already in third position when we crossed the finish line for the first time. I tried to keep up with the pace of Valentino and Marc, but they were really strong and I realized that today was not the day. Today was the day to fight and keep this third place, which is very good for the championship. If we struggle and still finish in third place, it‘s a good thing. Valentino was a little bit more competitive here from the beginning, Marc improved his bike and was more comfortable to keep up the pace and for us it was the opposite. We found that the harder tyre gave us a little bit more problems and in two sectors I couldn‘t be fast enough and lost so much time in sector two and four. In both I lost half a second and that made it impossible to have a good pace. The next race will be a bit more complicated at Sachsenring, because I‘ve never won there, but you don‘t know what might happen.”

In light of this being a MotoGP based thread...what are some of this group's thoughts on attending a MotoGP event? Particularly the one at Indy in early August. Never got into MGP that much, but since I live so close to Indy and ticket prices aren't bad (I'm seeing $50 for gen admission for race-day), I'm thinking about heading there for some fun. Is it worth it to actually attend those things for someone that is just starting to get interested in MGP?

8..start a new thread. Usually dUh, DAC and CA go. I went over and met them last year. It's a pretty big deal. Take good ear plugs and a small umbrella.

Ferret, thanks for sharing Lorenzo's post race quotes!
Specialist, I think it would be well worth your while! It's the best of the best and this year you will be seeing the best ever (Rossi) defying age, Lorenzo riding in his prime, and Marquez who everyone thought would dominate for a third straight year.
