Great writing Ptyl. You guys write so darn well, I can just follow along. 46 degrees today in New England - I stopped by the East Coast USA famous, Bettencourts Honda today. Mark Bettencourt was there manning the sales front. I was sitting on the 125cc Grom as it is called. Mark yells over, "You wanna test ride it?! Come on in and I'll give you a jacket and helmet." He hands me the keys, throws on a plate and off I go down the street on a modern day version of the old SL70 with the cylinder jutting out in front. Soon I was up to 35 mph with more to spare and when I braked for my first sharp corner into a side street, the little wheels fell into the corner immediately and gave me an, Ohhhh!, so that's how it works! I cruised a couple of miles on the backroads with a big grin on my face. The machine was perfect for such speeds. The essence of fun. One stop sign after another I knocked it down a few of the four gears, stopped and then cracked it up thru the nearly new gearbox again. A tad of lean and I was bolting thru a corner listening to that 125cc's wirbling along beneath me. Whommmmmmp! Wommmmmmp! Woooooomp! I pulled in to the parking lot and said to Mark, "That was excellent!" He then told me a story of he himself a day earlier passing a parked cop at 45mph and saying under his helmet, "Oooops!" 35 mph zone. Just grommin around!

Thanks for your encouragement guys. I really do appreciate it.

Hey Ferret. What's with .72 yards? Don't you mean 2feet and 1 9/10inches?

Cheers everyone.

Ptero, I use this site whenever I want to know how far in miles you guys are going

http://www.metric-conversions.org/length...-miles.htm

I just plugged in 50000 in the KM box, hit enter and used the figure it spit out

Alway entertained by round ( full?) numbers and find 50000 KMs sounds better than 31,068 miles. However 30,000 miles sounds better than 48,280 kilometers. I rode 27,053 miles last year,(43537 kms) but when asked just round it off to 27,000 miles.

That is one whole heap of seat time.

Cheers
And that rounds out to 119.279542kms PER DAY! Staggering.

Cheers again.

Lol ... someday I will probably get tired of riding, but after 49 years on two wheels ( 50 years by the time the rally rolls around) I don't see it happening anytime soon. I still look forward to riding everyday. I actually cut back my goal this year to 15,000 miles but I 'm afraid it will end up being more than that. I turned over 3000 miles yesterday and "riding season" hasn't really even started yet. According to my records for the first 3 months last year I had only ridden 1005 miles.

Via Bengworden maybe next time Petrodactyl
Part 3. Roads Less Travelled - Wet and Wild, on reading of your journey the help from the guys in Bairnsdale at the right price brought a smile to my face. I live just North East of Sale and find the ride to Bairnsdale on the Princess Highway a little to straight. An alternate route on good back roads in sparsely populated sheep farming country is via Bengworden the distance and time for the journey is much the same. So when you next go to PI give it a go. The local Highway patrol do like this road also so if you don,t want a burger with the lot keep the right wrist under control. On Saturday i rode from Home via Bengworden to Paynesville for a brew and the bike has just turned over 10,000 I bought it in 2014 with 5300 on the clock.

Mate, it would be my pleasure. I am planning on the MotoGP in October so maybe we can get together for a short ride on my way. You can show me around. With a bit of luck Cormanus may be there as well.

Cheers, and keep in touch.
And you are right about Sale - Bairnsdale via the Princess.

Cheers again
