Sorry for the slow PM reply....
For the thread,
Light,
I didn't go for the 825 because I wanted close to stock, I'm 5'8".
My seat was VERY hard, looked a lot better then it rode. Maybe the taller one would be softer? I was really considering the K&H White House seat for daily riding. The WH seat did ride level w/o the stock push forward. I'd check with Mr T to see if K&H will do the checker board top pattern on their seat yet. They wouldn't 2 years ago. If they do now that would be the way to go, those seats are the best made.
The WH and K&H are made shorter in length so they aren't pushing against the tank as hard. The stock seat and the others are all longer.
Tank looks great.

K&H seat for WH tank link: http://www.samurider.com/?p=14227 notice last picture.

Thanks Ack. Yeah, now that I look at pics of the smaller seat, it does look pretty hard. I might go with the taller seat, assuming there's more padding in there. I'll ask T if the checker board is available with the K&H. The K&H with K10 tank you posted link to is definitely an option. Man, this is getting complicated. Why did you get rid of your CB? Was it simply the seduction of the R9-T? The hard K10 seat? Thanks again for your input.

The seat wasn't that bad, out here my longest ride on the CB was under an hour. I'm not sure how it would be after a real ride. The K&H's are really really nice and the most comfy of the three I had.
I loved my CB and was so happy with the WH look. Once the engine got pitted I was heart broken and took her apart.
I'm a fan of the air-cooled BMW's this is my 3rd. Since this is the last for that motor I was interested, then I saw one with knobbies and was sold. Not a better bike just more fun where I'm stuck riding.
I do ride for hours now. Big Grin

Hi Light,

I bought Acks K10 Kit which had the Low K10 Seat. I had always preferred the look of the high seat and so ordered one up before Christmas. I much prefer the ride on the higher seat. I'm 6'2" so the low seat made the bike a bit short for me. Also, the short seat is a little hard. The full hight seat is like a sofa and super comfy.

The lines of the tall seat suit the the K10 Tank really well. I prefer it. I've kept the low seat as I may pop it on again in the summer and see if I like the change. The low seat makes the bike look a it more hairy chested and bluff. I do like it but the aesthetic is a bit 80's Greaser bike… ;-)

Adjusting the seat hight really effects the handling of a bike. Often people go for a tall or short seat looking only to change the distance of there feet from there arse, thinking only about comfort. If you raise the weight of the rider by an inch or two it really effect the handling. Theres lots of variables and you have to try it, but the tall K10 seat suited me and my bike better than the short seat. Riding higher made the bike turn quicker with less effort. It livened the bike up. It's just right for me and I love it. The position is much more like a period 70's bike, its very much like the position of a Norton Interstate. It's brilliant two up as well.

I had a ZRX1100 a while ago and bought a high, touring seat for that. It was comfier but it felt like riding a pig on stilts…. it can go either way.

I've attached a few pics…

Really, really nice Beardy. I like the looks of the seat in the first and last pics from a visual standpoint.

That bike would really fool the unknowing, even more than the standard 1100 does.

Very cool

Beardy,

Thanks so much! That was extremely helpful and informative. I've ordered the higher seat, so we'll see how it works for me. The "riding a sofa and comfy" sounds nice. I'm sending Mr. T my stock seat today to get the 30,000 yen discount, so it will be awhile until I get mine. Those pictures are breathtaking.

Wow, she looks awesome.
Love the silver motor and spokes.
Glad to hear the tall seat is softer, it does match up with the tank better.
Thanks for the pictures, I have a new wallpaper now. Big Grin

Thanks Fellas,
I promised to photograph the bike properly when the weather got better over here. Well, spring has sprung and I'll be doing a photo shoot soon. I'll post the pics when I get round to it. I think I may pop the chrome clock clock covers on her first, but then there's always something to add ;-) She could do with a pair of Over Racing Slip on Mufflers, but then I could use a sofa, so we'll see…. I need to fix the puncture I got riding thru town the other nigh before I do anything.

The bike gets quite a lot of attention. I ride her around London and it causes other bikers a fair bit of confusion. Endless conversations at the lights with bikers and thru car windows and one cyclist turned round and chased me to a gas station to ask me about it. He was knackered when he caught up! :-))) After having a fair few restro projects over the past few years and spending far too many frustrating hours in a workshop, it feels a bit of a cop out building up such a head turner in a few days!

I was going to put an old style Brit Black and White/Silver number plate on her to add to the confusion…. but is that just pretentious? ;-)

Nah. Stick the old-fashioned plate on it and complete the look.
