Basic mods

SmileAt the risk of asking a question that has been beaten to death, I like doing basic engine mods. In essence to open up any restrictions for the air coming in as well as the exhaust coming out, with a map to help the whole process along. I did this with my Triumph and it really just made the engine perform like it should.
Is this an easily do-able thing with the CB?
Will a slip on work or is it best to do the whole exhaust?
Are air box modifications available?
How about re-maps.
I got to tell you this is the first four cylinder or Japanese bike I have owned after years of two piston bikes. So new ground for me. I don't want a race bike I like the character of the bike I just want to take the gloves off the engine so to speak.

I'm pretty new to the site as well, but it sounds like some have opened up the exhaust, intake and added a PCV and tickled 96hp with a boost in torque. There is an active thread regarding opening up the intake.

Search on Guhl, or Don Guhl for ECU re flash (not Guth the forum owner)

Some have done the Power Commander thing. I know nothing about them. But some searches will turn up info on them.

LOTS of threads on different mufflers and exhausts. Staintune is a popular slip-on. But there are lots of pics of various exhausts on the site. Since they are expensive, I suggest you do some searching and reading before making up your mind.

And as the good Doctor said, there is a thread or two on air box mods.

A TSR air intake funnel will "de-snorkel" the air box. Or you can perform surgery on the snorkel to retain the ring and bolt holes that hold the air filter in place. (I have a spare snorkel if you're interested and don't want to spent $100).

You can probably get away with an air box mod and a good slip-on and not have to install a PCV. And if you get popping on deceleration, check out the Pair valve mod.

I think you'll see a noticeable improvement doing those 2 things. The next step would be a set of headers of full exhaust to eliminate the catalytic converter, but an ECU remap or PVC will be needed.
