Have a look at these:- Basically clear film but already cut to shape / size, and I'm very happy with the result! http://thetankslapper.biz/osc/index.php?cPath=25_1229

I am buying the "thetankslapper" kit it for the CB1100. Additionally, the "thetankslapper" is in my area so I rode up and talked to the owner because I wanted some additional protection (a) on the front of my tank from bugs/roadcrud, and (b) between my custom Corbin seat and the tank (the seat is deglossing the paint). He measured my 2014 Deluxe tank and made additional patterns from it. He made/installed the extra seat protection at his shop, but I have to wait until next week to order the bugs/roadcrud protection.

Their website makes it appear that this 'tank slapper' is red in color or is it clear? Also they have a selection of film types, so whick type did you select:

I put it on my bike. It is clear. The red is so you can see it on the computer screen. Otherwise, you wouldn't see anything! Smile

It's more effort to use than applying a pre-cut piece of film. But it has the advantage of covering the corners of the tank where the pre-cut film doesn't reach, and which could still be scuffed. Pros and cons to either approach.

Good luck, whichever way you go.

RJK: I read your post on this issue. If I planned to add a tank bag then I should also spray that part of the tank's TOP that would contact the bag, correct. I just need to be certain on that point.

A ways back in this thread, Gumby asked about pads for the sides of the tank. I recently got a set from [url=http://techspec-usa.com/magento/index.php/]TechSpec, They don't list the CB on their site, but customer service confirmed they have a template. Here they are installed:

Thanks for the information and source.

Was it difficult to get the pads to adhere properly at the lowest point where the tank has complex curvature?

No, they have pretty strong adhesive. I set them on top of the engine for a little while after a ride to soften them up a little, and used 3m surface-prep sponges.
