TSR Air Funnel Kit & Air Intake Funnel
#1

I'm looking for more power from my '11.
To this end I already have a set of Pipemasters four-into-fours and I'm planning on buying the TSR air funnel kit (which I would normally call velocity stacks, am I right here?), TSR air intake funnel and a K&N air filter just to be a cool kid. Once I've installed them I intend to have the ECU reflashed and dyno-tuned.
I've searched around and most people who've installed the air intake funnel seem pretty happy with it, the stacks however seem to be more complicated. Has anyone actually installed the stacks? Were they difficult to install and did they make any noticeable improvement? I've seen a few threads from members who've bought them but not installed due to having to expand holes in the airbox. Is this something an owner could realistically do or would I be better off having a mechanic take care of it?

Hey MrTim,

I've just fitted the TSR Air Funnel Kit. It isn't difficult but you'll need a workshop manual.
You have to remove the Airbox and to do this you remove the rear mudguard. It's a bit of a faff, but i think it took a couple of hours to strip it back, same again to put it all back together.
I left the throttle bodies in place. The manual says to remove them but it involves disturbing the TPS and the Throttle cables. It's just extra work you don't need to do. Either way it's not a major ball ache.
Once the airbag is off you have to drill 2 10mm holes in-between 1-2 and 3-4 Inlets. aprox 2 mins work. It's not letting unfiltered air into the box but just relocating the inlet for the balance between the inlets. That sound like nonsense, I know, but once you have it in your hand, it makes sense. You also have to widen out the holes for the Air Funnels. I used a Dremel with a grinding wheel on it. That way you can take just a bit off at a time and keep offing up the new funnels, until you get a good tight fit. It took about 30 mins to widen out the holes and its easy. Your not going to take too much off. Then it's just a case of following the manual and replacing everything.

I've got the Air Funnels, Air Intake Funnel with K&N, Re-flashed ECU, PCV, Cat Free Exhaust. It's quite a bit lighter than stock as well. It really moves.
The Air Funnels were the last mod I made as I was waiting for the right time to do the work. I think, and this is only seat of the pants feeling, that it has improved the low down pick up.
I'm going to get it dyno'd soon and I'll see if it's changed anything. I still haven't had a chance to take it out of the city, so I'll let you know if I can see much improvement on the open road.
I think, if your going to do all the other mods then doing the funnels makes sense. They are reasonably priced and it's a days tinkering...
Give me a shout if you need any more info on the job.
