No Hero but it works.
I think i had a lot of buffeting mounting it on my old school 3 snap helmet visor which flops around which is something i will look into.

$8?

Maybe all the “free” web services like Facebook have made me overly cynical about tech that is “free” or “nearly free” but my first thought was how is someone exploiting you with this thing?

Is it taking pictures and sending them to someone in Russia lol?

A friend bought a very low cost digital picture frame from China once and it was loaded with spyware and took over his computer.

The pictures look ok though.

That makes it so easy to start filming your trips and enjoy them afterwards, even seeing things that you did not have time to look at when driving, lots of fun and well done.

The accelerating pace and rapidly-collapsing price of consumer technology is absolutely amazing.

Forty ears ago I rode with a 4 lb. battery-powered 12v car stereo cassette player strapped around my waist, with bulky wired headphones stuffed in my helmet, and people were amazed at the innovation. Astraltune. Remember that? It predated the Sony Walkman by five years. The setup cost me over $300. One-hour 35mm photo finishing was a big deal back then, too, and was priced accordingly (expensive!). Now, for $8, you can take hands-free HD digital video from your helmet...

That's funny, LR! Back around 1980 I found that the "duck tail" compartment on my Kawasaki KZ was just large enough for an 8-track player, originally meant to be installed under dash on a car. I mounted some headphone speakers and female phone jack in my bell helmet. The only drawbacks were that you had to have the volume set correctly and hopefully a tape that you really liked in the player, since you had to lift the seat to change it. Big Grin

Now I can listen to my postage stamp sized, $20 MP3 player with thousands of hours of music on it.

At least with an 8-track, you were able to enjoy continuous music as the tape looped over itself. My cassette deck didn't have auto-reverse, so I'd have to stop and flip the cassette over after 30-45 minutes of play. I tried doing it once while riding down the freeway, fumbling around, trying to find the eject button. I finally got the cassette out and into my hand, ready to flip it over, but then the wind caught it. It streamed the tape out of the cassette and over my shoulder in a frantic, New Year's Eve celebratory streamer sort of way. The guy behind me wasn't amused. I think it was my "Best of the Doobie Brothers" album.

I’m waiting for cassettes to come back (following the trend of vinyl’s comeback) so I can listen to my 80’s music again:-). But will there be a new Walkman?
