Very cool photo. Looks like it’s in kit form, ready for assembly. By the looks of the tank & seat; it’s the last year for the SOHC (1978). ‘79 saw the first DOHC CB750K.

I’ve got some great memories of the RD’s back in the 70’s.
The annual Gilmore Vintage Bike Ride brings out some very unusual and collectible bikes. I showed up with my RD350, expansion chambers and all... the director looked at me and asked if “wouldn’t mind staying in the back”.
No problem. Those pipes are music to my ears. Had the oil pump dialed in, so the smoke was at a minimum.

I owned a 1971 Yamaha 350 R5. The first winter I had it I took the motor apart to have a look at it. It was so much easier to disassemble and reassemble than a British motor.
The only thing that fooled me on the R5 was the clutch assembly. It did not want to fit back on the crankshaft. After some deep thinking, I spread some oil on the shaft. The clutch assembly slid slowly up the shaft pushing oil as it went. Now that is a tight tolerance.
It was also such an easy motorcycle to maintain. I could clean the heads and piston tops, replace the spark plugs, change the oil and lube the chain in a couple of hours.
It had 10,000 miles on it when I sold it. It looked showroom clean and still would do 103 MPH.

My dad had a 72 R5C. Got stolen out of the front yard and found by Gatlinburg Tenn, Police. We had to go pick it up.
I bought an RD 350 new in 1973. Maroon and white. My wife and I toured on the thing. I see one now and they are so small I can't believe we both fit on it., plus our gear on the luggage rack. Of course we were a lot lighter/skinnier than, but still. Tiny bikes. I raced a guy on a CB 450 with i,t with her on the back and just smoked it lol.

I had a Suzuki T250 in 1973 and chased a CB750 down a hill one day. Kept up with him until 80 mph which surprised me. Great bike. Tezza still has a running T500.
