I finally made it past 1000 miles yesterday and to celebrate I took the bike up to 100 mph on I 64 West, it ran as smooth as it does at 70, with a little more wind ha ha.

Lol.... Im near 7000 miles. Mine has not seen 100 yet, and is likely never to.

I celebrated with a few red line shifts, that's always fun! :-)
Although I don't tend to do that as much on the CB1100 as I did over the years on my "86" 900 Ninja, I must have had well over 1K red line shifts on that Ninja....could be why I replaced the engine at 68K miles after hearing a knocking sound....

Mine will never see redline either lol

I very rarely went to the red line with my Honda Transalp (but there it is 8000 rpm only).
As the red line of the CB 1100 begins at 8500 rpm and has much more power than the Transalp, I hesitated up to now to bring my bike even close to that.

How come. You'll never really know what kind of engine came with the bike then. With both my Honda Valkyrie Tourer model and then a few years later my Honda Rune I did a test during late break-in. There's this long near mile long hill that is on a major highway that I use to get to and fro the big city. The perfect place to see what kind of pull and roll-on a bike has. I tested both Valkyrie out to see how quick they could reach 110 m.p.r. on the long rather steep hill. That was my test.Of course I was gambling.I knew very few cop cars ever set up radar points on the actual hill itself but rather at a few spots on the other side at the bottom of the hill. The test was necessary for my Biker pride. Since I refuse to ever blip my throttle I need some metric satisfaction.I find it absolutely amazing that many a fellar actually buy a Harley just so they can act macho and blip their throttles whenever and wherever. Well maybe not at Grandma's house come Turkey Day. Butt maybe.

Inline 4, 1140 cc 4 stroke with a 5 speed transmission. See, I know. I see no need for pushing it beyond where I am likely to ride it. No "Biker pride" I guess.
