I do like to ride the 1100 full out from time to time, but honestly a bump in power isn't that big of a deal. Coming off an early 80's CB the power differences are incredible. Not to me mention the huge handling difference despite the CB1100 being considerably heavier. And how did we ever put up with cable drum brakes?!?
Like many I had to buy the bike unseen and never test drive one. Two things I found astonishing on my first ride. The first was how quiet and smooth, and the instant throttle response you get. As the graph that was posted earlier shows with this engine you can either have usable power or track power. Track power looks awesome on paper but that also means keeping the rpms right up on the 7k range all the time, or having response like that of a large turbo at low rpms
