More CR more efficiency, torque and therefore power. The new BMW R18 1802cc which has pushrod valve actuation only makes 91HP, 2 more than the CB. It comes from 116 lbs-ft of Torque. That torque figure is quite low for an 1800cc motor but loads more than the CB. Our CB gets its power from the increased revs the engine can handle. Power = (2*Pi x N x T)/60 N= revs per min.
Either way these bikes were built as heritage plays but I think Honda got the marketing wrong. I think a lot of people have bought the CB1100 and sold them on very quickly as they didn't really know what they were buying. I think the RS looks great but gives the wrong impression. I think Honda would of sold a lot more had they gone the CB750 look, a full retro. Like Triumph have, first with air-cooled and now water-cooled bikes.
I love the looks of my DLX but I wont lie, it would have been awesome if it had come out looking like Tommymck's bike

I agree with you Ferret. I always thought four-into-four pipes would be great for our bikes.

4-4 sounds great on our bikes.

... yeah. Many years ago I didn't identify well with that. Today I get it.

What's interesting is back in the 70's many were pulling off the heavy, stock, restricted, 4 into 4 pipes and replacing them with 4 into 1.

Hey I was just wondering.
If these new CB series have almost the same engine shape as the old ones, does that mean the head cover and cylinder gaskets are the same ?
I'm asking this just in case I need to replace any of those gaskets and searching on eBay brought me several replacement items from the old good ones but not the recent ones
