Just re-read the initial post.
Two thoughts, the young ladies at the counter might be hires based upon looks rather than skills and placed in their positions by the ownership knowing they will be short term employees that will capture younger male customers attention. My hardware store has the same philosophy at the checkout counter.
A $100 to change a rear tire? My local shop does it for $20 labor if I buy the tire from them and $25 if I don't. While I wait.
