Eye candy for you long term riders
#11
Speaking of V45 interceptor...I also owned an '85 red VF750F at the same time I owned the cb1100f .
Bought it so my g/f (now wife) could go ride up in the hill country behind me.
That VF just blew me away w/ how refined and how easy it was to ride.
power was very linear, brakes were well balanced front and back, handling extremely neutral.
It was very noticeable how much better the Interceptor was all around, day in day out, compared to the CB1100F.
Like night and day noticeable.
But yea, Ferret... in the mid 80's...
the streets were ruled w/ big liter muscle bikes.
My two riding buddies rode GS750 & GS1100
Had another buddy I hooked up with to do
a ride from Austin to Daytona Beach for spring break in '86.
He rode a KZ1000. Just a golden period of spectacular motorcycles
on the road.

I think the CB1100F was one of the last old school " power above weight and handling" bikes from Honda, like the GS1100 series Suzukis, XS 11 Yamaha, and KZ Kawasakis. Then came a leap of high powered bikes that were lighter and handled better, and finally a decade later bikes like the 1992 Honda Firebird 900 which really showed bikes could be light and powerful and handle better. It was 76 pounds lighter than the Yamaha FZR 1000. By 2002 it had lost another 30 pounds and was down to 430 pounds with 130 HP. Somewhere along the line Honda got into the concept of mass centralization for their sportbikes which made them handle really well, but for some reason after 2002 the weight started creeping back up. Hondas have since then been the easiest to ride, but not the lightest or the most sophisticated electronically. The CBR1000R which replaced the 929/954 series Blades is a great bike and is probably the easiest really high powered bike to live with and ride, but others weigh less, have more hp and have tricker electronics.
