I always search for CB900F and 1100F bikes on line, and one day I just searched Honda CB and the 1100 came up--I was floored. Had to have one

How did you discover the CB?

I was riding a VT1100C Shadow when I happened to pass thru the dealer showroom and saw the CB1100 on the floor. Was so impressed I went home, got my title, returned to the dealership and started the trade negotiations and wound up riding my new CB1100 home that afternoon. The difference was like night and day.

had a 2015 VFR - loved the bike - never wanted to sell it - but the pillion was so high my wife was basically sitting in the wind - we hopped on cycle ergo and looked at bikes that were sporty but kept the rider and the passenger on at least the same level - had to be at sport bike for me to enjoy - it came down to the new triumph and the cb - the cb was better built imho. smoother and had a nicer pillion - the trade on the vfr sealed the deal - never been happier - the vfr taunted and despite good ergos, it got painful for me after a couple of hours - the cb makes me smile - does 90% of the vfr and makes me happy and my wife loves it - win all round

I've never been able to do that. I always file away a "first impression", then research it, contemplate it, reject the idea...then if it won't leave me alone, come back to it, find the best possible price (probably wasting lots of time and energy) and then usually I reject the idea again. Deep down, the persistent "do I really need this?" prevents me from acting. Then a week or two later something will reject the logic of "no" and I'll bite. One of these days I'm going to "White Dog" it. Seems a lot easier. : )

I'm typically more like you with my purchases but with the CB1100, I pulled the trigger really quickly (White Dog style) once it was under consideration. The great thing about the rather impulsive buy, is that I have no regrets. I appreciate all the responses received on this thread guys. It's been really interesting learning how everybody came to ride the CB. I know for many, their stories had been relayed in the past at some point, but given I'm a newbie here, it was awesome to read. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Once I make up my mind I don't mess around. I buy it. I walked into the dealer after work on a rainy Friday after work to see if they had a CB1100 in yet and they did. 10 minutes later it was mine.
They held it for me for a short while though until the rain stopped. Just did the same thing with a new car...

My story is not much different.
Saw the latest mockup on the web with the cool rank and the 4 into 4, heard rumors they may come Stateside. Waited. Waited some more. Then the Honda site posted them! Joy. My local dealer, (now closed btw), never gave a firm date for getting one in. All I had to go on was magazines and some early videos. When I learned the dealership 60 miles away was getting one, I had them call me as soon as it was available. Got there as it was in the crate. Didn't even wait for them to prep it before I started the buying process. I also neglected to tell the wife I was trading in. Bonus, I got to peel a lot of the protective film they shipped it with. It was so much fun. |
