New lid part duex

Some of you may recall I had purchased an HJC IS MAX BT Modular helmet after seeing someone on this forum wearing one. Unfortunately mine had this horrible mice in the attic rattle some other online users also experienced and attributed to a poor fitting door on the air vent or the IS (internal sun shield) mechanism. At any rate it was unbearable and I returned the helmet.

After wearing a couple of my full face helmets since returning the rattle trap, I found I really missed a modular, and would inadvertently grab the bottom of the chin piece on the full face, which of course wouldn't lift.

After trying on a slew of HJCs, Bells, Shoeis, Arai's, Schubert, Gmax and a lot of other helmets up at Iron Pony in Columbus last weekend, I ordered a new lid from Revzilla since I had a bunch of bonus bucks there I needed to use up. It's still an HJC (They just fit me well). This one is the HJC CL Max 2. NO internal sun shield, but I did order the optional dark smoke shield. Changing the shield was a piece of cake compared to my old helmets. Really nice set up. Took literally a minute without tools. Online reviews were mostly favorable a 4.6 out of 5 by Revzilla cutomers. Anyhow here it is.

Funny about that rattle. I have the same helmet and it's fine.
The HJC's fit me well too and I generally stick with them.
They're a decent helmet at a decent price.

Yea me too Rocky. Guess that is why I have 9 of them (although 1 is about to get pitched). I also have one Bell but don't care for it too much.

Tried on a Shoei last weekend. Wasn't as comfortable for me as the HJC. Probably better quality but not as comfortable. My brother has Shoei Qwest that he loves.

Wore the new lid on todays ride. it was only 55 degrees so a good day to test the venting. going down the road with vents closed, popped the left forehead vent open, and felt a rush of cold air. Popped the right open and felt a small er rush of cold air, but they worked. shut them off. Popped the chin vent open and really couldn't tell any difference but there was already air coming up from the bottom so who knows. Shield works great. Can be popped open just a bit for air and it stays that way, and many detents on the way up for setting it for differing amounts of air to full open. Fully closed it really seals out the noise/air.

No rattles or whistles that I could hear. Seemed to be pretty quiet for a modular which tend to be a little louder. And it was nice when I stopped to do anything to be able to flip the front all the way up. I could also put it on and take it off without removing my glasses. Big points!

Only rode about 35 miles this afternoon, but so far, pleased as punch with the new lid.

I've been using a modular also. I have the Bell evo Templar. Its my first modular. The first took me a little while to get used to and its not the most quiet but I got it on sale and figured what the heck, just try it. I'm getting used to it more and more. Its a very cool looking helmet.
