What's the difference?

The classes can get complicated, but basically vintage is air-cooled, twin-shock, drum brakes up through the late 70's, early 80's, depending on the manufacturer. Modern bikes are water-cooled, disc brakes, very light (around 150 pounds), torque monsters, with sport specific tires running 4 to 5 pounds of air for grip. Vintage bikes now can benefit from modern tires, and advances in twin shock technology. And, while they are also very torquey bikes, they typically have two VERY heavy flywheels that let them chug down low. As such, they don't respond immediately when your turn the throttle on, or off, where as modern bikes are ULTRA responsive, and very quick revving.
