New tires installation charges.

I recently had new tires installed on my CB1100 (1st time). The Local dealer labor costs included spin balance, the installation of a 90 degree valve stem and rear brake pads (valve stems and rear brake pads purchased were different line items), and disposal of the old tires. I did not remove the wheels, or anything else, other than pay the bill.
Front wheel labor charge: $59.50
Real wheel labor charge, which included installing new brake pads: $65.00

Please note: as part of my purchased maintenance package, I get “free tires for life”. I refuse to divulge the tires make and model because it would lead to a bunch of BT54 bashing posts

The out the door bill was $187.28, including all the parts and labor mentioned above. That was less than I expected.

I am curious if the labor charges are similar to what you guys pay.

The new tires feel great. Now ready for the rally.

I think that’s a great deal for “wheels on the bike,” especially since they replaced your rear brake pads as part of the cost. I’m with you on the BT54’s — they work fine on this bike.

I pay $20 per wheel “off the bike” at a local shop (not a dealer).

Has been between $45 to $60 for me. No great deal considering its a naked bike. But, better than doing it myself

I just paid $149, labor only, plus valve stems plus disposal. Balancing was included, but I'd say you did almost $50 better than me.

My Honda dealer charges $25 per wheel to mount and balance and dispose of the old tire if you bought the tires there. That is with the wheels off the bike. Rim scratches are no extra charge!

I think I pay about $100 for 2 wheels on the bike but they give me a discount. I think customer walk in is $60 wheel on the bike.

I'll bet the replacement BS front has more meat than the oe BS

Suhawk, if you have a tread depth gauge, could you please measure the depth on the tires?

Front tire: 4/32 inches (~3 mm) of tread.
Rear tire: 9/32 inches (~7 mm) of tread.
Even on a glance, the front tire does not look like it has a lot of tread.

I think that's what was on them originally back in 2013.

This is from a 2013 thread when everyone was wearing out front Bridgestones so quickly:

Front tires start out with less rubber. According to Bridgestone, their front tires start out with 4/32 tread and rears with 9/32.

If that is true with the Dunlops as well in 6200 miles I have used up 1/32 on the front and 4/32 on the rear, so the rear is wearing faster than the front.

Edit: I just went and measured my new Road 5 GT on the FJR and it only has 5/32 so not much more really.
