I am getting notices to renew my MotoGP video pass. Supposedly a" Black Friday sale" but same price as last years video pass @ $139.99 Euros.
here's the kicker...in small print at the bottom it says:
All 2021 season VideoPass purchases have an automatic renewal to a 2022 season package (the price of the Season package depends of the country conditions).
I have no issue renewing my Season pass but at ONE YEAR AT A TIME
Don't like automated renewals
Pondering
thoughts?

You are right automatic renewals can lock you in for a long time with no price guarantee and also the subscriber might not even be around any longer.

Set-up an advance [Google] calendar reminder of an upcoming subscription renewal so your credit card isn't shocked.
Of course, if the subscriber is no longer around, well, eventually the credit card will expire. You can watch that happen from above (or from below ... your mileage will vary).

We have a lot of automatic payments set up thru our bank account , much better as you probably do not change banks often , when they send you a new credit card (often every 2-3 years ) you have to change all your automatic payments to your new card .

I guess if you spend a lot of time watching MotoGP and want to be able to dip into the catalogue whenever you want, it's an OK price. Otherwise it seems very expensive to me. And auto renewal makes it more complicated.
If you're of a mind to renew it, why not do so? Then, a couple of days later go on the website and see whether you can cancel the auto renewal?

I've done it the past couple of years, but I am going to hold out until the season begins again. This year was a delayed. I'll just wait. I'm not that worried about watching the off season testing and such.
