So here's the story....

I was dating a woman and we were going to go on a trip to a resort near Tuscon at the end of the month. But we've broken up so now I have airline tickets flying into Tuscon Friday morning 9/27 and flying out of Phoenix Monday afternoon 9/30 that I can't get reimbursed for. So I thought I might as well go. I've already taken off those days and I'd lose most of the money if I don't use them.

I figured I'd go out there, rent a bike and tool around a bit. So two questions, anybody know a good place to rent and any suggestions as to where to ride?

Thanks in advance!

KE, if you have the time, don't miss US 191 from Alpine to Morenci (or the other way around). It's a fabulous stretch of road.

I'm also quite partial to US 89A from Sedona up to Flagstaff. I don't recall the highway number, but Flagstaff to Grand Canyon is also quite nice.
These roads are a little out of your way, however. If so, you could also consider riding south of Tucson towards Patagonia and Douglas. Not as nice as the routes described above but it's something. There's also the road up Mt. Lemmon, which I've not ridden.

There is a place in North Scottsdale that rents bikes, a friend of a friend rents a bike from time to time. Have no clue of the name.

I've got a spare CB if you're interested in riding one of those. PM me if (I'm up near the Deer Valley Airport).

That is so cool Rboe. Try to keep that in mind the next time I am in the AZ neighbourhood.

Wow! That's incredibly generous of you Rboe! I'm still looking into my options but I'll definitely consider that, thank you!

Thanks LR, I have been on 89A although not on a bike but it was one of the routes I was considering. I was also considering heading NE to Canyon De Chelly but I'm not sure what the roads are like around there.

The roads up to Canyon de Chelly are wide open high desert. Not terribly interesting or scenic, but you can always stop for lunch in Window Rock, AZ, and try the mutton. Once was enough for me.
