Cortech Micro 2.0 Tank Bag - the_undecider_imp - 03-27-2015

I have been looking for a small magnetic tank bag to stash my phone, keys, and other small essentials for easier access than what my saddle bag provides. I wanted something that didn't detract too much from the lines of the tank. Cortech had their Micro model tank bag, but the phone pouch was too small for the current crop of larger screen phones like my Samsung Galaxy S4. I found out Cortech introduced the larger Micro 2.0 which supposedly fit these larger phones. Finally found one in stock at a shop I stopped in after doing an Indian demo ride event this morning. The shop had a new 2013 CB on the floor, so I was able to try before I buy.

It fits right around the gas gap up top and the bottom magnetic tab just fits above my K&H Solo saddle's nose. Those with the taller saddle might have to stuff the tab under the nose of the saddle since it goes higher up on the tank. This also works as a strap mount bag if your tank is plastic or aluminum and the security strap that goes around the steering yoke is recommended even if you are using as a magnetic bag. On the CB, running that strap would chaff the paint on the tank, so I will leave it off. The magnets are very secure, so it's not going anywhere.

If anybody wants a wide shot of the bike, let me know and I will drag it out so I can get a good photo.

Very low profile. Cool. Does the phone go in that clear plastic covered pouch or is that for a GPS?

It's for phones. There might be GPS units that fit, but a lot of them have power cords that run out the bottom which wouldn't work so well on this. The bottom right corner of the phone pouch has a pass-through for headphone cords, so you could put an ipod in there, too.

The original version of this tank bag would only accommodate smaller phones like the older iPhone. This is the 2.0 version for larger phones. My Galaxy S4 with Otterbox fits easily.

I hate sounding old, but what is an otterbox, and please don't tell me part of a female otter. Rolleyes

Cell phone case

I have one on mine.

To add to Popgun's response, an Otterbox is a very protective case. It's a plastic housing with a screen cover that has a rubber outer layer for shock absorbtion. They are really good protection, but add a bit of bulk. I mentioned the Otterbox to provide some context for what fits in the phone pouch.

Bet I'm the last guy on the planet with a rotary dial cell phone

Mine has one of those handles you have to crank. It's getting much harder to wake up the girl at the exchange!

I like it, my phone is 6 1/4 X 3 1/4, any chance you could tell me if it might fit ?

That's a nice compact tank bag. Cortech makes some nice stuff.
