SP Tadao Power Box Short Tail - DGShannon_imp - 08-07-2015

Another happy Samurider customer! Takashi shipped my exhaust on Monday, and it arrived on Wednesday! Install was really easy. If you have seen the YouTube video on the install, it is out of date, as the product design has changed a fair bit. The power box is smaller now, and tucks further up inside, attaching with a bracket to a hole that is already in the center stand assembly. That, and the rubber bumper on the center stand no longer needs modifying, as the exhaust now has a stop built in that aligns perfectly with the stock position.

Could not be happier with this purchase! The dramatic change in looks was my primary driver, which it accomplishes. Deeper sound, but not loud or obnoxious was critical. The exhaust note is perfect, with no hint of being offensive to those around you, or to the neighbors during those early morning start ups!

Fit and finish are top notch, with every angle and hole lining up exactly where it should. Highly recommend it!

Looks and sounds great! Excellent comparison video too.

I wonder if Tadao will update the megaphone pipe. It's a fairly easy install too but is the old design: Replace a bolt under the left peg to mount the power box and reposition the center stand rubber stopper with additional hardware to protect the older, larger power box.

A large picture of your bike would be appreciated. I might swap out my megaphone style for the short tail.

That's a really sweet looking pipe... yeah, the size of the stock is just so friggin big! But I do like the quiet purr it puts out. This Tadao is rated at 81 dB. Anyone know the dB rating of the stock pipe?

There is a YouTube video that measures the stock pipe at 84db @ 3750 rpm.

The stock pipe is built to last the life of the bike and meet all noise and emission requirements. That said I think it sings pretty nice, north of 4000rpm. Any of the slip-ons will give you a look you like and a weight savings. The tadao is very nice. I am intrigued by the twin tail version. Since the cat is still in place I don't think any of them can get too obnoxious

Even without the cat, the SP Tadao is reasonably quiet under 4000 rpm.

BTW the SP Tadao, like the Staintune, offers a clear path through the pipe. In other words you can see light from one end to the other. Not so with the stock exhaust.

Got my first real ride in, this morning, with the new pipe. Absolutely love the sound. Far more reminiscent of the sound of an exotic European sports car than a typical sport bike. Wonderful little gurgle on deceleration. The stainless is taking on that rich golden color, matching the rest of the exhaust now.
