Importing Staintune Slip-on to Canada - Gumby 1100_imp - 09-15-2015 If the website below can be believed, it should cost less than $38 CDN in tax (No Duty Charge!) to import a Staintune Slip-on directly from Australia to Canada! Staintune wants $100 Australian to ship. At this time the Australian and Canadian Dollar are nearly at par and the Staintune costs $800 AD. http://www.ezbordercrossing.com/the-inspection-experience/clearing-customs/canadian-duties/#.Vfg55djbIk1 It certainly would not make any sense to buy from Pirate's Lair in the the U.S. as I would then pay many times that in brokerage, duty, taxes and shipping to Canada (especially if the UPS 'brown shirts' get involved). Have any of my fellow Canucks dealt directly with Australia yet for a Staintune? Note: I was initially thinking of an Arrow or Moriwaki Slip-on, but by the time it got to Canada it would likely end up costing upwards of $800 CDN all told. Whether Canadians deal directly with Japan or Italy, or ship through the U.S. doesn't seem to make much difference...and our 75 cent dollar doesn't help much either
RE: Importing Staintune Slip-on to Canada - Papa Weeley_imp - 09-15-2015 Well, I'm in California, not in Canada, but I can say the deal with Staintune went extremely smoothly, and the fabrication and finish is very high quality, with a sound that is just perfect to my ears - only slightly louder than stock, but very deep and mellow. Sounds like an inline 4 now. I couldn't be happier. Whatever it takes to get it to The Great White North, do it - it's well worth it!
