ChicDesign short rear fender owners - tried or considering this? - Riko_imp - 09-29-2015

Hi,

I finally plan to buy a CB1100EX in december-january and as some might know, I've done a whole lot of research Blush

One of my returning questions are those of the dual round taillights.

More specifically I'd like to know if there are owners who have a ChicDesign rear fender, ever tried or considered trying to mount dual round taillights on their fender.

I've done some photo editing and this is what it could look like:





I think it could look great, but still have to see one done for real.

Just wondering tho.

Lol, I think thats also a RIKO photoshop job from April of 2014 ( a year and a half ago). He has been considering this awhile it appears.

hehe this was indeed "my work" but not photoshop, not skilled enough for that (or too lazy) just made that in Paint.

Does anyone know what the legal minimum spacing is for motorcycle turn signals?

I went with the small turn signals Honda uses on their Japanese market CBs. But I don't think that's the look you're going for.

i was asking about the taillight

but i'd also change the turnsignals to these:


but those smaller ones are nice too...although i'd change the lenses

and about the legal matter, thats something that differs from country to country
i believe in Europe, here in Belgium more specific they also sell it with the smaller indicators

CB, we had a discussion on that once and I THINK it was 9 inches on a DOT site. I'll have to look around again for it though.

CB, 9 inches is it:

At or near the front - 1 amber on
each side of the vertical centerline at
the same height, and having a
minimum horizontal separation
distance (centerline of lamps) of 16
inches. Minimum edge to edge
separatio n distance between lamp
and headlamp is 4 inches.
At or near the rear - 1 red or amber
on each side of the vertical
centerline, at the same height and
having a minimum horizontal
separation distance (centerline to
centerline of lamps) of 9 inches.
Minimum edge to edge separation
distance between lamp and tail or
stop lamp is 4 inches, when a single
stop and tail lamp is installed on the
vertical centerline and the turn
signal lamps are red.

Link to the NHTSA document that shows it (at the bottom). Interesting document, it also shows the requirement for the VIN (in the US) In other words, what all the numbers and letters mean.

Thanks Popgun. Some of the custom bikes are clearly not legal, but that hasn't appeared to stop anyone.
