gutting the cat - modmaster_imp - 02-29-2016 Actually I love both of my cats but I would like to know if anyone has ever been able to gut the inside of their catalytic converter. Could you access it by reaching in from the outlet and perhaps knock the insides out with a good sized bar? Just wondering if anyone has tried yet. modmaster RE: gutting the cat - the Ferret - 02-29-2016 Maybe we should change the title? lol ..although it is catchy and makes you look. RE: gutting the cat - Pete Erickson_imp - 02-29-2016 Why would you want to? Cats are not very restrictive. My Moto Guzzi had Cats in the exhaust canisters. I replaced those with after market cans without Cats and there was no difference in power output.....verified on a dyno. My nephew ran a straight pipes from the Cats on his Mustang 5.0 thinking that the Cats would be enough to muffle the exhaust. He was wrong. The exhaust was as loud as just attaching the pipes to the header. RE: gutting the cat - Rebel73_imp - 02-29-2016 Do we need to call ASPCA? Lol. RE: gutting the cat - redbirds_imp - 02-29-2016 And I thought we were going to talk violins. I would think there would be little to gain by gutting the cat but I'm sure it could be done. gutting the cat - Elipten_imp - 02-29-2016 I thought there was a post in the past of a member taking out the guts of the cat. 2014 CB1100 DLX 2013 CB1100 Std 1990 BMW K75 RT RE: gutting the cat - Cormanus - 02-29-2016 You're a champion, Elipten. I knew I'd made a bad joke about something like this. The thread was called [url=http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=2829]Gut Factory Muffler and I remember wondering why you needed to muffle a gut factory. RE: gutting the cat - Gumby 1100_imp - 03-01-2016 Actually, the thread on Gutting the CAT is below: http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=4014&highlight=header The author, kDiqq was even offering his services to others who wanted their CAT removed...however, I haven't seen him post much lately.
