New Renthal low bars installed today - uscgmac_imp - 03-26-2016 Ordered new Renthal low road bars in black for my 2014 standard. Just installed them today. I've seen people with the ultra lows but not the low bars. Here are some pics. Didn't get a chance to test out other than in front of the house and driveway but so far they seem quite comfortable. Down about 1 1/2 to 2" and more fowarded but not that radical of a change. Looks so much nicer, almost like it should have came that way to begin with. I've resorted back to the stock mirrors being that they just fit the era and style of the bike so well and now they are lower with the new bars I just really dug them now. No real noticeable vibration so speak of for now. I've ridden bikes with bars like this before so no real suprise there. Sent from my SM-G530T using Tapatalk Also installed the renthal bar ends. I ordered some black CNC aluminum levers too. I also have aftermarket mirrors in black and may switch them out now and again. I put the lower set on and really like them. Renthal makes some great bars for the money Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk RE: New Renthal low bars installed today - Nemo_imp - 03-27-2016 Could you post a photo of the OEM bars next to the Renthal? Any issue drilling for the switch assemblies detents? Are they wider than factory? RE: New Renthal low bars installed today - the Ferret - 03-27-2016 Blacked out GIvi? I'm not going to lie drilling the holes was a pain, and I did not get them in the right spot the first time. But luckily the second time was the charm! Very confortable and no noticable vibration to think of, infact i didnt even think about checking for vibration untill half way through my ride so guess it didnt jump right out at me. I did drill holes for the switches. Its my first time dojng it and only had to drill once. I measured the stock bars with everything stripped off then read not to do that because the grips sometimes hang over the bar ends. I took the new bars, slid them into the switches and grips and held the switches where i wanted them and lightly turned back and foward untill it left a small mark in the bars where that tab is. I then gently pulled the new bars out and let the switches dangle freely and went to the vice at my work bench. I wrapped the new bar with a towel, put it in the vice, secured it and gave a light punch to mark my spot with a center punch and hammer. Do this so the bit doesnt walk on you. I then drilled out a pilot hole with smaller bit then my final hole and hoped for the best. Then reassembled everything and done. I originally used hair sprap to set the left grip but it didnt hold well so now i used grip glue and going to let it sit over night. Adjusted the levers and bars several times untill i got it just right. My OCD kicked in while adjusting so took me four times to get it where I like it. Has a "purposeful" look about it. My tank is looking a little manky where my knees grip so am considering knee grip pads. Yours look good, but will do a bit of forum searching. Cheers RE: New Renthal low bars installed today - uscgmac_imp - 03-27-2016 Those are the regular stock mirrors. They look much better and more proportioned to the bike because of the lower bars. |
