Samurider Road Comet Questions - 2017EX_imp - 12-10-2017

I am considering a road Comet Cafe fairing for my 2017EX. As my tank is red, I am leaning toward the red fairing. Can anyone that has this set up post a picture or two showing what the INSIDE of the red fairing looks like, mounted on the bike, as viewed from the driver position? I assume that the shield Samurider lists for the 2017 is a Road Comet II version? Lastly, can anyone post a picture showing how the lower bracket attaches? I am guessing from what I have read in other threads that the upper of the two screws on the face of the horn bracket is the attachment point. However, if that is true, both of those screws are recessed into the face of the bracket, and I would assume a spacer would be used to fill the recess, which would then bring the Road Comet "L" bracket out to flush with the face of the horn bracket. On the other hand maybe the short leg of the L bracket goes behind the horn bracket secured with a nut, instead of on the face of the horn bracket? As others have mentioned, while it is an attractive and functional addition, it is not returnable and a fair chunk of change, so I am trying to do all the homework first.

Not where I can take any photos of the fairings and attachments but I can vouch that they include everything you need to quite simply mount the fairing to your bike, color matched perfectly. I just mounted my second one to a Triumph and this one came with all the brackets, spacers, fasteners needed as did the first which went on my CB. Easy and quick.
I ordered the one for the Triumph because of how well the first looked and fitted. Not the least expensive available but sure does look good installed.

Thanks for the pics. A fellow Texan, small world, as I am in Arlington. I assume the inside is also finished in red ( shadow makes it look black ). How would you describe the finish on the inside? I hunted all over for a plain low profile license plate frame, and found this polished stainless that might be of interest:

Finished it off with stainless button head Allen screws and acorn nuts from the hardware store, along with a Joker Machine aluminum black anodized backing plate: [url=https://www.ebay.com/itm/Joker-Machine-License-Plate-Back-Plate-Black-09-575B/162749291588?epid=171180610&hash=item25e49d1c44:g:F20AAOSwjodaB9B2&vxp=mtr]https://www.ebay.com/itm/Joker-Machine-L...B2&vxp=mtr

RE: Samurider Road Comet Questions - 2017EX_imp - 12-11-2017

Update for those considering the Road Comet for 2017 CB1100EX: I just received an email from Takashi at Samurider, responding to questions I had sent him. I asked if it was a Road Comet I or II, as it is not indicated on Samuriders web site, and he said it is a I. I asked if it had been re-designed to prevent light leaking into the inside of the shell from the headlight at night ( according to older posts there was light leakage on the earlier design ), and he said it has been re-deigned to prevent that. I asked if silver was a color option ( again not listed on the site for this shield ), and he said yes, same price as red. Another member posted pictures of his done in silver, but I could not access his Photo Bucket pictures. I asked if the slightly taller Touring clear windshield with curved top lip was available separately for the Road Comet shell, and he said it had been discontinued, no longer available. lastly he attached a PDF of the mounting instructions, but it was a generic "general" description, picturing a Honda that was not the CB1100. So, I am still not clear as to the mounting of the lower bracket for the 2017 CB1100EX.

Chip Beck and I both have the silver RC and red bikes. I got mine with no stripes.

The short end of the bottom bracket goes on the horn mounting stud and the long end has a nut welded to it. The screw goes through the RC into the nut. Its easy peasy.

Want a pic? I can’t post any right now, but if you PM me you phone# I’ll text you one. Or your email address and I send it that way.

My RC is not mounted right now as I put on an NC EX for cold weather, but I leave the RC mounts installed, so I can take a good pic.

2017EX, if you access the forum from a computer (rather than a phone or tablet) and have either or both of Firefox or Google Chrome installed, there is a workaround that will allow you to see photos hosted on Photobucket. See [url=http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=11899&page=11]this page of a thread on the frustrations of that hosting site.

Thanks for the kind offer of the pic of the lower bracket Popgun! I have learned over the years to thoroughly research and understand how something works ahead of time, rather than get into one of those "OMG, what have I gotten myself into" situations after the fact. Link to my email is in my contacts profile, but if that doesnt work, let me know. No rush, and thanks again!

Thanks Cormanus! I use Google Chrome, so adding the fix is now on my to do list. I have never used Photo Bucket, and probably never will after reading the post. That said, I will do the fix so I can see pictures other members have posted.

Forget Photobucket unless you want to pay $400 a year for the privilege of being able to show your photos here or on other forums. Imgur and Postimage are two sites that offer the same service for free. There are plenty of others.
