tool kit - el duque_imp - 04-15-2018 I don't have one. I think there was mention of it when I bought it but don't recall. So, I'm kinda pondering gettin one for posterity... Then again I might just skip it. Anybody use them? Out on the road? I've used some honda oem tools but reach for something different and carry a bit more to boot. The only reason I see assembling the tools (didn't see a part# for the whole kit) is to have it for re-sale. I think when I added everything up it was more than $50. I could buy a lot of tools for that at HF. ![]() If something goes awry out and about I reckon I'll need a tow truck and a credit card instead. RE: tool kit - emptysea - 04-15-2018 I didn't scour this for the exact post, but I believe there is a section in this thread that talks about tool kits to carry on the bike http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=437 RE: tool kit - SportsterDoc - 04-15-2018 I like to be reasonably prepared, even if to tighten a mirror after it gets bumped. A quality set of 1/4" drive Metric hex bits (Allen) is $50 from McMaster-Carr. Under the seat: Compact foot pump (over battery) Can of SealNAir (over battery) Plug kit (over battery) Tool pouch (rear of fuses/cross bar) 1/4 ratchet, 3" & 6" extensions 1/4" drive 3, 4, 5, 6 & 8 mm Allen bits 1/4" drive 8, 10, 12, 14 mm hex sockets 1/4" drive #2 & #3 Phillips Open end wrenches from my last Yamaha, including 10, 12, 14 & 17. Larger combo wrench from my last Yamaha (19 x 22mm) The space for the U lock has a 24" flat bungee. Nice to have that much space! RE: tool kit - el duque_imp - 04-15-2018 Thanks E.S. and Sp.Doc. I need to put something together. Space huh! I'm used to 83' G.Wing Interstate space. I carried tools and spares. RE: tool kit - Cormanus - 04-15-2018 Down here in the Antipodes we got the entire Honda tool kit. On the road, I've used a couple of bits of it a couple of times, but mostly for problems with other people's bikes rather than my CB. RE: tool kit - Rocky_imp - 04-15-2018 It might be worthwhile to consider a tool set from Cruz. http://www.cruztools.com/streetmetric.html RE: tool kit - the Ferret - 04-15-2018 Consider your mechanical abilities, and what you can do on the side of the road. Personally plugging a tire, adjusting a chain, maybe changing out a fuse, or a light bulb ( although I don't carry spare bulbs), or replacing a battery are what I am capable of doing .... so on a trip I carry tools that will accomplish those tasks. Anything more complicated than that and I'm calling for a tow. RE: tool kit - el duque_imp - 04-15-2018 T.f., that is about it for me too. Rocky, good suggestion. all there. got it. Corman, I thought everyone got the tool kit. RE: tool kit - Rocky_imp - 04-16-2018 Just to extend this a bit, my 2014 CB only came with 3-4 tools. I asked the dealer about it and they ordered in all the missing tools from Honda free of charge. Some time ago (couple of years?) there was a thread about the missing tools. My Bonneville didn't come with any tools so I bought a metric set of Cruz tools which is why I suggested them. RE: tool kit - peterbaron - 04-16-2018 I just have CB basic tool+ and tire repair kit. Even with my automotive skills not much more I can do on the road, realistically. ![]() pb |
