Alternative Fork boots (not the kawa boots) - misterprofessionality - 05-31-2018
well i've run into a snafu here. the Kawasaki Fork Boots That were reccomended to me have turned up on Back order by Partzilla. I can't wait for them to get in, because I have to get them put on with the new set of tires I have on the way. Normally, I'd just buy them elsewhere, but they seem to be much more expensive elsewhere, and If i take them off the order so that my other parts will ship, Partzilla is going to charge me for shipping. So, I need to get a set of alternative fork boots for the CB1100 that are at least almost as good as the Kawasaki boots that you folks like to use. Big bonus if they're less expensive.
Any good reccomendations?

I fitted a set of Triumph fork gaiters to my CB over the winter.
I only rolled the bike out a couple of weeks ago so they have no age time or climate exposure on them and I can't say how durable they are yet, but they look good.
Time will tell.

I fitted a pair of Bonneville gaiters about a month ago; they look OK so far, no cracks etc. However during installation I realized that they were about a quarter of an inch too short(exposed shiny tube) so I stretched them upwards a bit then secured with the zip tie. Still looking the same after a few tankfuls of riding.

I bought mine from the local Kawasaki dealer. He had to order them, took about 3 days to get, cost around $100, very nice quality.

The Triumph gaiters were $67.50, but that's a Canadian price.
My set of gaiters came with small split clamps to secure the gaiters up in place. The clamps are pulled together with a screw gripping the gaiter in place. A zip-tie/cable-tie will do the same thing. I placed the clamp screw behind the fork and you can barely see it unless you look for it.
The set I put on my Bonneville a few years ago came with black cable ties to hold them up in place and they have never moved.

That would normally be my go-to strategy, but sadly i'm stuck with ordering either something from partzilla (to avoid getting a shipping charge) or ordering a much cheaper alternative to wash out the shipping charge. paying more for the kawa gaiters *on top of* paying for shipping just doesn't sit right with me.

Yes, that's them. I got mine from a local Triumph dealer. The set I bought 6-7 years ago for the Bonneville were very thick and substantial. The newer version are much thinner and almost flimsy by comparison.
As I mentioned, I have no time on them yet so can't vouch for how they will hold up over time. They are what they are, and I have them now, so time will tell.

I've actually had an opportunity to touch and feel these in a dealership and they feel super sturdy, and I like the "denser" look. Where would I look to find out if these will fit a CB11? The parts guys at the dealership were scared to answer me. is there a particular measurement or stat i can look up that determines whether or not it will fit?
