Yoshimura ceramic coating longevity - Buzzard Biker_imp - 01-21-2020 Has anyone had a Yoshimura (or other brand) full ceramic exhaust system fitted 12 or more months ago? How is the ceramic coating lasting? I can’t stretch to the budget of the Yoshimura system but as I like the ceramic look I am thinking of perhaps getting the original exhaust system ceramic coated. Most places here in the UK will guarantee the work for 2-3 years. I’ve had a quote from a reputable specialist at £244 + tax which seems decent enough to me. Thanks all. Before my Whitehouse plans for my CB went tits-up, I'd planned to have the 4-into-4 ceramic coated locally (just the pipes - I dunno if they can do just half a system - the silencers are joined to the exhaust I believe) Interested to see how you get on with this. RE: Yoshimura ceramic coating longevity - emptysea - 01-21-2020 OK... I have never paid much attention to what the coating is on my Yoshimura exhaust. It's black and the website from where I purchased describes it a "heat resistant". I don't know if that's ceramic or not, but I don't see a ceramic coated option on that site. So, if it's helpful, I've had this exhaust since 2014 and have ridden roughly 50,000 miles with this exhaust in place. Here's what it looks like right now. I think that if I took more than an S100 minute to clean them, they'd look a lot closer to original, but the pipes and all the connections are still solid so I'm ok with the pipes looking well-worn. I apologize in advance if these turn out not to be ceramic. RE: Yoshimura ceramic coating longevity - Buzzard Biker_imp - 01-21-2020 Thanks EmptySea, that is useful to know. The ceramic coating does help dissipate heat quickly and doubles up with the cosmetic looks too. This has helped me to decide that getting the OEM system ceramic coated is best for me. I might change the silencer for an aftermarket one before doing so. Hey bazbro, I will keep you updated. The company I am looking at doing this work is called Performance 1 Coatings and they are based in Abingdon. RE: Yoshimura ceramic coating longevity - Bazbro_imp - 01-21-2020 Heat resistant paint? Ceramic coated? That is the question... RE: Yoshimura ceramic coating longevity - Lord Popgun - 01-21-2020 Search on Jet Hot. A few members have done it and it seems to be holding up fine. RE: Yoshimura ceramic coating longevity - Buzzard Biker_imp - 01-21-2020 https://www.performance1coatings.com/motorcycle-exhaust-paint This is the link to their website. Thanks popgun. Reassuring to know. RE: Yoshimura ceramic coating longevity - the Ferret - 01-21-2020 Isnt ceramic coating glossy and never rust and paint just shiny but will rust? RE: Yoshimura ceramic coating longevity - GoldOxide_imp - 01-21-2020 I believe ceramic coatings comes in a variety of finishes like matte to gloss-like, in decent range of colours to metallic finishes, and finally clear finishes. The finish may chip, but it is pretty tough. RE: Yoshimura ceramic coating longevity - Bazbro_imp - 01-21-2020 And don't ceramic-coated exhausts run cooler? I was looking at the clear coating to stop the discolouration of the stainless steel. |
