2017 EX Taillight - US vs UK - pekingduck - 04-30-2020 The 2017 EX has an LED taillight, but to me, it sure looked weird - too big/long. I tried one from a 2013, which didn't quite fit right. When I was looking on the Honda UK site, I saw the taillight was shorter. So I bought a used one on eBay from a UK seller. The part that is different, the upper housing, is all that was really needed. Curiously, in the US, the longer length part costs $29, but the shorter length UK part, 80110-MGC-JB0 is 107 pounds. Wonder what it costs from Samurai? Anyway, here's what it looks like. RE: 2017 EX Taillight - US vs UK - Cormanus - 04-30-2020 How strange is that? I prefer the UK variant. RE: 2017 EX Taillight - US vs UK - alprider - 04-30-2020 funny, this fine different i had never observed until now... ...only 29$ overthere ? i would never belive this super cheap price for here... RE: 2017 EX Taillight - US vs UK - Jfro5687_imp - 04-30-2020 We pay through the nose for everything in the U.K. RE: 2017 EX Taillight - US vs UK - Houtman_imp - 04-30-2020 (04-30-2020, 08:05 PM)Jfro5687_imp Wrote: We pay through the nose for everything in the U.K. Like you should ….. (kidding ) RE: 2017 EX Taillight - US vs UK - 2017EX_imp - 05-03-2020 I found this comparison interesting, and had to stroll out to the garage to look at the situation on my 2017 EX. The red LED tail light has a clear portion on the bottom, to illuminate the rear license plate. I do not know if the UK LED tail light unit has the same set up or not for "number plate" illumination. Just looking at it, it would appear the the longer US chrome housing was done to put more light on the rear license plate, as it looks like the shorter UK version would be putting less light on the LP, and more on the top of the LP frame? No doubt the longer housing was done to conform to some sort of NHTSA lighting requirement. I definitely like the look of the shorter housing. The shorter housing in combination with the chrome and red, reminds me of the CB750 Four set up from back in the day. I do wish Honda had made the CB1100 tail light chrome parts from stamped steel instead of plastic though.
